Care to Soothe Irritation, Burning, and Blurry Vision

Dry eye can show up in small ways at first: a little burning, a gritty feeling, or blurring when you try to focus. Over time, those small symptoms can turn into all-day irritation that affects your comfort, concentration, and even your mood.

Envision Eye Care’s Dry Eye Center takes the guesswork out of what’s causing your symptoms by giving your eyes a closer, more detailed look. Once we understand what your eyes need, we build a treatment plan. Dry eye evaluations are available at all five of our locations, so you don’t have to travel far from home to get the answers and relief you need.

Evaluate & Detect Dry Eye

Dry eye shows up differently for everyone, which is why the first step is understanding what’s causing your discomfort. Your evaluation gives us a close, detailed look at your tear film, eyelids, and ocular surface. We combine your symptoms with advanced testing to pinpoint the real source of the problem, not just guess. During your eye evaluation, we may check:

Eye Surface

Allowing us to spot irritation or early changes before they become more uncomfortable.

Eyelid Health

The health of your eyelids, because clogged or inflamed glands often play a major role in dry eye.

Tear Evaporation

How quickly your tears evaporate, which helps us see whether your eyes are staying hydrated.

Tear Quality

The quality of your tears, since some people produce enough tears but not the right balance of oils and moisture.

TearLab® Dry Eye Testing

TearLab® testing gives us a simple way to see whether your tear film is balanced or unstable. The test is quick, comfortable, and available at all our locations. TearLab results help us:

  • Identify early tear imbalance, even when symptoms seem minor.

  • Guide your eye care treatment plan to ensure we target the root cause rather than just the symptoms.

  • Track your progress, so we know when your eyes are improving or need additional support.

Meibography Testing

Many people don’t realize their dry eye is caused by blocked or unhealthy oil glands. These glands, called meibomian glands, play a major role in keeping your tears from evaporating too quickly. Meibography allows us to visualize these glands clearly, enabling us to assess their shape, function, and early signs of blockage.

Dry Eye Treatments

Prescription Options

Some cases of dry eye need more than artificial tears or warm compresses. Prescription medications give your eyes the support they need to heal, reduce inflammation, and rebuild a healthier tear film. These treatments work in the background while you go about your day, making them a strong option for persistent symptoms.

At Envision Eye Care, we may recommend options such as:

  • Anti-inflammatory eye drops to calm irritation that keeps your eyes from producing healthy tears.

  • Tear-stimulating medications to help your eyes make more natural moisture.

  • Supportive therapies for patients whose dry eye is tied to allergies, autoimmune conditions, or eyelid inflammation.

Amniotic Membrane Therapy

When the surface of your eye becomes irritated or damaged from chronic dryness, healing can take longer than you’d expect. Amniotic membrane therapy gives your eyes a boost by providing a natural, protective layer that supports healing and reduces inflammation. It feels like wearing a soft bandage contact lens, and it is available at all our locations. This therapy helps:

  • Calm inflammation that has been building for a long time.

  • Protect the eye's surface, creating a safer environment for healing.

  • Speed up recovery, especially for moderate to severe dry eye cases.

BlephEx® Lid Treatment

When debris, bacteria, or built-up oils collect along the eyelid margins, they can cause irritation, burning, or a “scratchy” feeling that no amount of artificial tears can fix. BlephEx gently cleans the eyelid margins using a soft, rotating sponge to remove that buildup and calm inflammation.

BlephEx can help:

  • Reduce redness and irritation caused by chronic debris or oil buildup.

  • Improve the quality of your tears: healthy lids support a healthier tear film.

  • Relieve symptoms linked to blepharitis, a common condition that often contributes to dry eye.

BlephEx lid treatment is available at all our locations except Gray, TN.

LipiFlow® Treatment in Bristol

When the oil glands in your eyelids become blocked, your tears evaporate too quickly, leaving your eyes feeling dry, irritated, or tired. At our Bristol location, we offer LipiFlow, a gentle, in-office treatment that warms and massages the oil glands from the inside and outside of the eyelids. This combination helps melt and release the hardened oils that keep your glands from functioning properly.

Treatment takes only a few minutes and is available at our Bristol eye clinic. Many patients enjoy long-lasting relief as their glands begin functioning more normally again.
