Medical Insurance vs. Vision Insurance

Many patients aren’t sure which insurance to use for their visit, and that’s completely normal. The difference comes down to why you're being seen.

Vision plans cover routine vision care, including annual eye exams, glasses, prescription sunglasses, and contact lenses. Think of vision insurance as the plan that helps you see clearly and keep your prescriptions up to date.

Medical insurance covers care related to eye health or medical conditions, including dry eye evaluations, diabetes-related eye exams, glaucoma management, eye infections or injuries, cataract evaluations, and macular degeneration. If your visit involves a medical diagnosis or concern, your medical insurance, not your vision plan, usually applies.

Vision Plans We Accept

We work with a variety of vision insurance plans to help make glasses, contact lenses, and routine exams more accessible. If you don’t see your plan listed, give us a call; some employers use versions of these plans under different names, and we’re happy to check your benefits for you. Medical Plans We Accept

  • Cherry monthly payment plans

  • CareCredit
